CME Chat an integrated chat feature offered through CME Direct Mobile, the web-based version of CME Direct, where you can view real-time market data and execute trades on futures, options, and blocks all on one screen. CME Direct also provides access to CME Chat.

How much does CME Chat cost?

There is no charge for users who have a CME Group Login.

What is a CME Group Login?

CME Group Login is a self-managed, centralized user profile service that authenticates access to CME Group applications and services.

What is CME Direct?

CME Direct is CME Group’s premier front-end trading platform that provides access to both CME Globex trading and CME ClearPort OTC clearing from within a single interface, allowing the user to execute all available CME Group products.

Do I have to log in to CME Direct Mobile or CME Direct to use CME Chat?

Yes, CME Chat is an open-network messaging tool integrated within the CME Direct Mobile platform. It is not a stand-alone tool.

Does CME Chat have a smart phone app?

Not yet, but you can currently access CME Chat via a smart phone or tablet browser.

Does CME Group charge for CME Direct and CME Direct Mobile access?

There is no licensing fee for CME Direct or CME Direct Mobile.

Is CME Chat federated with any other networks?

Yes, CME Chat is federated with the Thomson Reuters Eikon messaging community and firms permissioned on Skype for Business domains through NextPlane.

Is CME Chat secure?

Yes, CME Chat rests on the same security infrastructure as CME Direct.

The platform requires two-factor authentication; has point-to-point encryption, encryption at rest and in flight; and incorporates a granular user permissions model.

Can I archive my chat logs for compliance purposes?

Yes, CME Chat is integrated with leading third-party archiving vendors. You can transfer files from an encrypted SFTP file folder that CME Chat provides for you.

What do I need to get CME Chat?

You will need:

  • A CME Group Login ID.
  • Permissioned access to CME Direct Mobile or CME Direct. Your company’s Verification Officer (someone who is designated to administer access to CME Group’s platforms and products) will authorize that.
  • Permissioned access to CME Chat. Your company’s Verification Officer (someone who is designated to administer access to CME Group’s platforms and products) will authorize that.

How can I find out who is my firm’s designated Verification Officer?

Send an email to EASE@cmegroup.com and we’ll provide you with that information.

I already have a CME Direct or CME Direct Mobile account. How do I enable chat on my CME Group Log In ID?

If you already have CME Direct access, enabling CME Chat is easy. Our Enterprise Application & System Entitlements (EASE) team will enable your ID upon request.

Your firm’s Verification Officer should send an email to EASE@cmegroup.com, including the CME Group Login ID(s) and firm name in an email titled, “CME Chat Request,” to expedite processing.
