Extended Friday Close for Electronic Livestock and Dairy Products Starts Oct. 24

Effective Friday, October 24, 2008, the close of electronic trading on Fridays for Live Cattle, Feeder Cattle, Lean Hog, Frozen Pork Belly and all Dairy futures and options on CME Globex will be extended to 1:55 p.m. CT from 1:30 p.m. CT.

Things to Know:

  1. Soybean oil futures are a dollar denominated physical delivery 60,000 pound (approx. 27 metric tons) contract
  2. Contracts are available for trading over 15 hours per day providing customers access regardless of their time zone
  3. Soybean oil futures are traded electronically on CME Globex during the Asian and European daytime market hours as well as during the primary U.S. grain market hours side-by-side with the trading floor
  4. As the main ingredient in a wide range of cooking products, Soybean oil the most widely used edible oil in the United States
  5. Soybean oil is also the primary component of bio-diesel fuel, an increasingly important new source of energy
