Friday's Soybean market was higher with the May contract up by 6'2 to 1023'0, a one week high. Overall, 264,910 contracts changed hands, with 120,885 traded in May. Across all maturities, open interest gained 3,823 (0.45%) to 853,607. May lost 5,861, or 1.61%, finishing at 357,602.
The July 1020 put saw the most changing hands with 13,836 contracts done. High volumes in May option trading were seen in the 1050 calls (5,895) and the 940 puts (3,430). Calls with the most open interest are the Nov 1200 strike (16,352), and for the puts are the May 1000 strike (16,409).
Soybean implied volatility closed the day slightly higher as SVL gained 0.0016 to finish the session at 16.91. Historical volatility (30-day) closed at 13.10%, off by 1.47%, to a twelve year low. The SVL Skew was sharply up with the 30-day gaining 0.34, closing at a one month high of 1.00.
