On Monday, August 26, 2013, pending regulatory review, CBOT will apply two modifications to enhance its CBOT corn, soybeans, and wheat Short-Dated New Crop Options:
1. For corn and soybeans, a March contract month will be listed in addition to the existing May, July, September contract months.
2. Start the listing cycle earlier:
For corn and soybeans, the first trading day will be changed from the first business day in January to the first business day following the expiration of the September option in the previous year (from 1/2/2014 to 8/26/2013);
For wheat, the first trading day will be changed from the first business day in September to the first business day following the expiration of the September option in the same year (from 9/3/2013 to 8/26/2013).
On August 26, 2013, the following Short-Dated New Crop Option contract months will be listed for trading:
- For Corn: March 2014 (expires on 2/21/2014), May 2014 (expires on 4/25/2014), July 2014 (expires on 6/20/2014), and September 2014 (expires on 8/22/2014). All of these contract months exercise into the December 2014 Corn futures contract.
- For Soybeans: March 2014 (expires on 2/21/2014), May 2014 (expires on 4/25/2014), July 2014 (expires on 6/20/2014), and September 2014 (expires on 8/22/2014). All of these contract months exercise into the November 2014 Soybean futures contract.
- For Wheat: December 2013 (expires on 11/22/2013), March 2014 (expires on 2/21/2014), and May 2014 (expires on 4/25/2014). All of these contract months exercise into the July 2014 Wheat futures contract.
