How is this data calculated?

Transaction data from licensed and validated market participants is gathered during the calendar month through the Hemp Benchmarks® Price Contributor Network. Statistical outliers and submissions with erroneous data are eliminated and simple averages are then calculated.

Are there risks in using the data, such as seasonality?

Hemp, being a row crop grown predominantly outdoors, has a growing season in North America that spans from late spring to early fall. This creates temporal impacts on both demand and supply. Farmers seek supplies of seeds and clones ahead of the planting season. Supplies of harvested flower, biomass, seeds, and fresh derived products (such as hurd) peak after the fall harvest.

What is the file format of this data?

Data file formats are in CSV. Report file formats are PDF.

What is the average daily file size?

Monthly data files are less than 1 MB. Monthly reports are typically 3 MBs.

How many files are available per day?

Data and report files are currently produced once each per month.
There are 3 CSV Files and 1 PDF File with updated Monthly data.

What is the delivery frequency of the data?

Data delivery frequency is currently once per month.

What time (daily, monthly + time of day + day of week) will the files be delivered each day?

The Hemp Benchmarks dataset is updated on the last Wednesday of every month. Delivery of updated datasets will occur on the last Wednesday of every month at 5:00 PM Central Time.

Are the files compressed?

The files are compressed in ZIP format.

Are sample files available?
