For purposes of this process, trading firms, broker firms and asset managers can be firms or individuals
Firm Type(s) Firm Profile Information
  • Broker Firm - Broker Firms can enter Deals under the two-sided Broker model and the Single Sided model.  A Broker Firm can be selected as a Broker with respect to a Trading Account by the Clearing Member.
  • Trading Firm - A Firm that is the beneficial owner of any one or more Trading Accounts held with a Clearing Member.  A Trading Firm can have a relationship with one or more Clearing Members.  While other Firm types (Broker Firms, Asset Manager Firms) can have permission within ClearPort to act in the Trading Firm's Trading Account(s), only a Trading Firm can be the owner of a Trading Account.
  • Asset Manager Firm - Only Asset Manager Firms can be selected (by a Clearing Member) as an Asset Manager with respect to particular Trading Accounts as to which the Clearing Member confirms the Asset Manager Firm has authority to act.  Asset Manager Firms can enter Single Sided Deals for those Trading Accounts.
  • Platform - A third-party service provider facilitating ClearPort trade entry through their own proprietary software and the CME ClearPort API.  Administrative users at registered ClearPort platforms can be permitted read-only ClearPort UI access to review ClearPort trades submitted by their platform.

Firm Legal Entity Identifier
  • CICI / LEI:  Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) is a unique ID associated with a single corporate entity and would be used for identifying the parties to financial transactions. CFTC Interim Compliant Identifier (CICI) will be used until establishment of a global LEI system.
  • Domicile: Identifies whether entity is US-domiciled
  • Entity Classification: For each Asset Class identify the type of entity engaging in trading activity. Typically Entity Classification should be the same for all Asset Classes unless the CFTC has granted Firm’s request to limit Entity Classification to a single Asset Class

Please ensure each of these individuals has created and activated a CME Group Login ID through the CME Group Login Registration Process. If these CME Group Login IDs are not specified, the registration form cannot be submitted.
