CME Group proudly celebrates 45 years of foreign exchange (FX) futures. On May 16, 1972, CME Group launched seven currency futures contracts: British pounds, Canadian dollars, Deutsche marks, French francs, Japanese yen, Mexican pesos, and Swiss francs. Since then, these products ultimately transformed futures markets continue to provide individuals, banks, corporations, and financial institutions with the most efficient tool to manage inherent price risks in foreign exchange.
