Note:  Russell Index contracts will be listed at CME Group only through the SEP 2008 expiration.

Options on Russell 2000 futures provide a way to limit downside risk while efficiently expressing views on an index of small-cap equity stocks. They also enable you to:

  • Use a financial tool that accommodates a range of strategies, different market environments and varied objectives 

 

Things to know:

  • Trading takes place:
    • On the CME Group trading floor during open outcry trading hours
    • Electronically on the CME Globex platform when the trading floor is closed
  • CME Clearing matches and settles all trades and guarantees counterparty creditworthiness

 

About the Underlying Index
The Russell 2000 Index is designed to be a comprehensive representation of the U.S. small-capitalization equity market. Since its inception, the Russell 2000 Index has become the premier measure of small-capitalization stocks and is widely followed by U.S. fund managers. Sectors tracked by the Russell 2000 Index include financial services, health care, technology, consumer discretionary and material processing.

Block trades for E-mini Russell 2000

CME Group is offering an expanded block trade program for E-mini Russell 2000 products. This program is designed to help facilitate an orderly transition of open interest with the end of our contractual listing rights nearing (September 2008). Waivers have been added for certain block transactions.
